Piano

My approach to teaching piano is more customized than probably is usual. It is important to me that the students not only learn to read music and understand theory, but that they develop confidence in playing by ear. Each person is different in the way they learn best. My goal as the instructor is to cater to the way the student learns so that he/ she progresses at a good pace while keeping interested. Some students are good readers, others are more rambunctious and maybe need a more hand-on approach.

The one thing that should be remembered is that in the end, we play (or continue to play) because we enjoy it- because it is fun. The learning process can be fun, too.

I offer a once week and twice a week lessons. I have found tremendous success with the twice a week schedule. The student progresses so much faster and has a much easier time with the material than once a week. Originally, piano was studied daily, always with a teacher to guide through the practice sessions. This prevented the student from reinforcing mistakes that the teacher would then have to correct. I find that the twice a week schedule is similarly helpful.

The price for lessons is $15 per half hour session. For twice a week lessons, I reduce the 2nd lesson to $10 for a total of $25 per week.
