Recitals are an excellent way to help the student gain confidence in sharing their talents. The more opportunities, the better. I encourage their participation in school, religious, or community events that will allow them to perform in front of others. Performing encourages memorization of material and excellence. It also gives them a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
Our singing groups perform several times a year, at the close of their 6-week sessions. At this time, other piano and singing students are invited to participate. There is a printed program and light refreshments afterward.
Piano and Singing (private lessons) students may also hold individual (or family) recitals. After the student has 6 or more songs that they have learned really well, that are performance-type songs, they may hold an individual recital. They may invite their family and friends, and perform their pieces or songs. This is also an opportunity to perform their own original music.
Small recitals may be held in my home or the student's home. Larger recitals are held in various locations, depending on the occupancy needed.
